Deer Dancer #4, 2007

Dimensions: 4″ X 2-1/8″

Materials: Sterling Silver, 18K & 14K Gold, Fossil Walrus Tusk, Petrified Dinosaur Bone, Lapis, and Gold Feldspar.

Description: The design for this dancer is influenced by the Pueblo dances and my Alaskan Culture.  The figure itself depicts a Deer Dancer like you might see at one of the Eight Northern Pueblos of NM.  The detail of the dancer and the etched scenes are more indicative of the Yup’ik and Athabascan People of Alaska.  I love the combination of materials and scrimshaw in this figure.  The scrimshaw etchings are meant to replicate the natural designs in the dinosaur bone arms.
